ARDOCH, N.D. — About 20 miles north of Grand Forks is a little farm nearly as old as North Dakota itself. A bright red horse barn, a house that looks almost as it did when it was built in 1905, a large Quonset hut containing two Ford Model Ts and a line of large grain bins each serve as set pieces for the business Miranda Olson and Joe Aamot have spent the last year building — a flower farm called Ember Bloom. Flowers are involved in every life milestone, Olson said during a tour of the farm on Oct. 1, just as the couple were preparing to harvest the last of their flowers for the season. It s great to bring it to life. The previous owners really built out a lot of what we are looking at right here. We were really lucky that the foundation was kind of set for us. Olson and Aamot started the business last year shortly after purchasing the scenic property on 158th Avenue in Ardoch. They have spent most of their careers in public service.
